Dwayne Lemon’s Live Miracle

Elder Dwayne Lemon returned to Advent Media Connect and performed a miracle that left me baffled and the entire audience astonished. I am not referring to miracles like raising the dead, healing the sick, or delivering people from demonic oppression. Rather, I would argue that this miracle was even more powerful because of its rarity and its profound impact on all who had observed it.

A few days earlier, I had written a Substack about Elder Dwayne Lemon’s journey out of a hyper standard–oriented version of present truth doctrine. He shared some of the challenges he faced within that circle, where grace was often portrayed as something weak. During that conversation, Elder Dwayne also mentioned a few well-known figures in the present truth community who took offense to some of his comments, feeling they were accusatory and misrepresented their character and ministries.

I believe it was never Elder Dwayne Lemon’s intention to cause offense or misrepresent anyone’s character, marriages, or ministries. Yet after it was explained to me, I can understand why some might have had genuine concerns about the claims that were made. Following this, he received a phone call from a former colleague in ministry who reached out in the spirit of Matthew 18, which says, “If your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother.” Matthew 18:15 (CSB)

This is a principle that is rarely used to resolve conflict, yet it remains one of the most powerful given to us. How often have we rushed ahead of God, trying to do His work for Him, and ended up making a mess of something that could have been quietly resolved with a Christlike approach? Instead, videos, posts, and comments spread across social media about an issue that could have been settled with a single phone call. There is an important lesson here for all of us.

Elder Dwayne called me the day before, asking to come back on the podcast to address a few things he felt he might have gotten wrong. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was open to having another conversation with him.

The livestream was scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening. We met backstage on the Zoom call, prayed together, and then started the Vmix live right at 7 p.m., waiting our usual three minutes for the notification to be sent out for the people to watch. We had approximately 75 people eagerly ready and waiting to hear what the message was about.

My wife and I opened the live discussion by sharing our appreciation for Elder Dwayne’s message the last time he joined us. Then we transitioned the scene to bring him on for part two of the conversation.

It was at that moment the miracle began to unfold. Elder Dwayne took the discussion in a direction we hadn’t expected. He did something that very few have ever done publicly. The beauty of that moment moved me so deeply that tears started streaming down my face. I remained silent because I simply couldn’t speak. While I monitored the chat on YouTube, I noticed the excitement there too, more amens and praises to God than I had ever seen before.

This kind of miracle doesn’t happen very often, even among professed Christians. It was something truly uncommon. If more of us who call ourselves Christians would let God work through us to bring about similar miracles, as Elder Dwayne Lemon did, I believe we would see deep healing among God’s people. But sadly, our pride, ego, and self-centeredness often get in the way of God’s power and grace.

Throughout this whole piece, I haven’t actually told you what the miracle was, that’s because my words couldn’t fully capture it. I encourage you to click the link below and watch the video to see for yourself.
