Advent Media Connect

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose," (Romans 8:28)

Advent Media Connect wasn’t just an idea; it was born out of life’s unpredictable circumstances. Some moments were good, some were painful, and others were downright brutal. But through it all, a mission took shape.

As of this post, Advent Media Connect has grown to 74,000 subscribers, 10 million views, and over 2,100 uploads, a milestone I never imagined when this began. For a Christian SDA YouTube channel, these numbers are humbling. But beyond the stats, the real story is why this channel exists. I hope this story will give you an idea of how we came about, and I also hope this will inspire someone to keep moving forward, never to quit.

Let me take you back to the years before Advent Media Connect.

After my journey as a Christian began in 2010, I stumbled upon a YouTube channel called Controversy7. Watching his videos, I saw something that stirred me, a man deeply passionate about God’s Word, unafraid to share and defend it with conviction. His consistency and boldness left a mark on me.

Months later, inspired by his example, I hit record on my first video. (Yes, it’s probably still floating around YouTube somewhere.)

Looking back, it’s almost hard to believe, me, a nervous and hesitant, timid Haitian man, speaking with a thick accent, using a grainy webcam and a sluggish laptop. But in that moment, something shifted in me. For the first time, I felt a spark of confidence, a still small voice saying to me, "James, keep going. Don’t stop."

And I never did.

The years passed, but I kept recording, faithfully sharing Bible prophecies and God’s messages, whether the world was watching or not. My mindset was simple: If even one person listens, that’s reason enough to keep going.

My viewership? Modest at best, some videos drew 13 viewers, others barely cracked 100. There were moments when I felt somewhat discouraged: "Why keep doing this?" Very few people are watching, but the Lord wouldn’t let me quit. He kept filling my mouth with His words and fueling my passion to proclaim them online.

Subscriber counts didn’t move me. If a single soul was being reached, that was my mission. For the first decade on YouTube, by the world’s standards, I was an "unknown", a small voice in a vast digital wilderness. But success wasn’t measured in numbers. It was measured in obedience.

So I never stopped speaking.

Because sometimes, the most powerful work happens in the unseen places.

Then came 2020, the year everything changed.

Amid the chaos of COVID-19, I recorded a video exposing the devastating side effects I’d witnessed from vaccines in the nursing home where I worked. My voice cracked; tears fell. It wasn’t just a report; it was a cry from the heart.

The response was explosive.

550,000+ views on YouTube in days

3,000 new subscribers

700,000 shares on Facebook

Then, censorship came for me. Both platforms banned it for "violating guidelines." (You can still find it on Rumble under "Nursing Home Whistleblower.")

Suddenly, my phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Interview requests. Event invitations. The spotlight was intense and terrifying. For a moment, it felt validating. But deep down, I knew: This wasn’t my battle.

My calling wasn’t to fight Big Pharma or some elites, nor was it to search out conspiracy theories. It was, and always will be, to proclaim the gospel and God’s end-time truths. So I stepped back from all the attention. Returned to my roots: Bible studies, prophecies, gospel preaching.

The "new audience" from the viral video vanished overnight. Without the controversy, my guess is, I must have become irrelevant to them. Views plummeted to 200 per video. But here’s the miracle: That was still more than before.

A quiet confirmation: Even when the crowd leaves, the mission remains.

So I kept recording.

Kept preaching.

Kept trusting.

Because faithfulness isn’t measured in views, it’s measured in obedience.

How I Broke the Algorithm

One day, while praying in my office, I asked the Lord, like I would a close friend, "What kind of video should I make next?"

Then, out of nowhere, a thought flashed through my mind: Reaction videos.

Now, I had no idea what reaction videos even were. But I felt a nudge to explore it. So I went to YouTube and stumbled upon a music video by an artist named Tom MacDonald. I wasn’t into rap, and honestly, he looked a little wild to me. But the title of his video stopped me cold: "New World Order."

"What does he know about that?" I muttered. Curiosity got the best of me, and I hit play.

Within minutes, my jaw dropped. His lyrics were powerful, calling out government overreach, censorship, and the very things I’d witnessed during COVID-19. For the first time, I heard an artist boldly speaking truth to power.

That’s when it clicked.

I decided to record my first reaction video on OBS software. The method was simple: listen attentively, and share my honest thoughts, break down his song while weaving in Biblical truth as I see the opportunity to do so through the lyrics, or images highlighted through the music video. No matter what song it was, I sought for ways to introduce the gospel message to the audience. Within two days, it hit 2,000 views. The response was overwhelming. People flooded the comments, subscribed, and even suggested more videos for me to react to.

What shocked me most? They loved my unapologetic faith. I didn’t have to soften my convictions; nor water down my doctrine; I preached the gospel right in the middle of those reactions. But I showed respect to the artist, no condemnation, no criticism, no matter how wild they appeared tome, I just engaged with the song, and shared the gospel through it. And the fruit was undeniable: Viewers emailed hundreds of messages about their conversions. Some joined my Bible studies. Others became lifelong friends. This was the day that I realized something.

People are hungry for the love of God, but we must meet them where they are.

For a season, reaction videos were a divine detour, a way to break through YouTube’s algorithm and reach hearts. But deep down, I knew this wasn’t my final calling. It was a lesson, it was an exist on the journey, but not the destination.

Sometimes, God uses unexpected tools to open doors, so His Word can walk right through.

From Kenhorst to Advent Media Connect: The Turning Point

By 2022, I realized the reaction-style approach that had worked for my channel could breathe life into my local church’s dormant YouTube presence, Kenhorst SDA Church. At the time, our services, despite containing powerful sermons, were barely scratching 23 views per upload. The truth was being preached, but nobody was listening.

So I took action.

Since this was a church channel, I chose a bold angle: reacting to a 6-minute clip of TD Jakes preaching an anti-Sabbath message. I listened carefully, then systematically dismantled his claims, using Scripture alone to defend the 7th-day Sabbath.

The result? ExplosIVE.

A dead channel suddenly revived

That video (still available under A.M.C. & Contending for the Faith) didn’t just boost numbers; it proved something critical. This was a major turning point.

Truth, when presented engagingly, can break through the noise.

This wasn’t just a win for Kenhorst’s channel, it was the spark that would eventually lead to Advent Media Connect. Because sometimes, God uses a single video to show you what’s possible when you meet people where they are without compromising what you stand for.

The viral success of the reaction videos didn’t go unnoticed. The church leadership called a board meeting; some were excited, others were concerned. After discussion, they voted to remove the TD Jakes reaction video from the channel.

I disagreed but complied. But here’s the dilemma: Kenhorst’s YouTube channel now had over 10,000 subscribers, and they weren’t there for traditional sermons. They came looking for more reaction videos, biblical critics, the kind of content that had sparked their interest in the first place. These 10,000 people weren’t just passive viewers; they were hungry for truth, and they weren’t leaving. Kenhorst was their channel, and Pastor James was their man.

Then came some even better news

A few months later, the pastor called me with a surprising suggestion:

"These subscribers followed you. You’ve become the face of Kenhorst’s online presence. Why don’t you take the channel, rename it, and keep doing what God has called you to do?"

And so, in early 2023, Advent Media Connect was born.

When Romans 8:28 says,

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose,"

I can testify—every word of that verse is true.

What seemed like a setback was actually God’s setup.

Thank you for being part of this journey. God bless you.
